milanThe burning question all Italians have: why did you move from America to Italy? As if I chose to move to some third world country. Although I have days when I sincerely question it myself. I’m 28 years old and I’m living in Milan, working in Digital PR. Sometimes I feel like I’m living the dream. Until I realize I’m the poor man’s version of Sex and the City. I wouldn’t trade it for anything though.

I’m originally from Rhode Island and after studying abroad in Siena, Italy while I was in college I just fell in love with this country. I made it my post-graduation goal to come back here, but not as a tourist, never as a tourist. I wanted Italy to be my home. After doing an internship in Milan the year after graduation, I went back home (for a guy) and basically spent that year planning how I would get back here permanently. In August 2010, I made it happen. Boarded a plane with two suitcases, no job, no apartment and 2 nights booked in a hotel. And here I am five years later still listening to my girlfriends say, “When are you coming home?” And the truth is, I don’t know. I love it here. Even when it sucks, I love it. So I’m going to stay here until I don’t like it any more, plain and simple.

As for the blog, I love to write, always have, and over these past five years I’ve met some characters that have really shaped my experience and have certainly given my girlfriends and I something to laugh about over cocktails. I figured, why not combine the two and entertain a few more people while I’m at it. I also need an answer when people ask me my hobbies. Now I have one. I write a blog.
